Green Books

I may [or may not have, I can't remember] mentioned that I am living in the Eco House on my university campus next year. I have been trying to like my creative side with my eco side to try and find new ways to reuse and remake things. I hadn't realized how many books there are on the subject of reusing things for making new things. There are so many cool ideas out there. Here are some books I have come across lately that I would like to buy !

This one looks super cool ! I REALLY want this one ..

Kaila's Birthday [yesterday]

Yesterday was my friend Kaila's birthday. I bought her some lovely earrings that I found at the market, but then remembered that she doesn't really wear earrings [I should be a better friend] So now I have new earrings and Kaila has a bunch of stuff I made her. I always feel weird making people things for their birthday, I am not sure why. I guess I feel like I am ripping them off by not buying them something, but then I have to remember that it's the thought that counts. A lot more thought went into Kaila's new gift then her old one [the earrings].
Here is the card I made her ! I thought it was quite creative myself :

I made the little buttons and the flower on the front with paint and then printed them out and cut them out ! Then I used the poladroid maker [aka my favorite thing ever] to make a cute little poladroid of us. I was very much inspired by this post on a Beautiful Mess.

I also made her a bracelet and some hair pins and put them in this cute little envelope :

I just took a piece of paper and drew little squiggles on the front with some sharpies [aka my other favorite thing ever] and then i folded it up with the goods inside and sewed up the sides [I had no tape so I had to sew up the sides, but I thought it turned out pretty awesome] Then I super glued [everyone should use super glue at least once a week.. I love to glue stuff] some buttons to the front ! I though this was an awesome way to improvise when you can't afford wrapping paper.

Ps. This is Kaila and I.
I wish I could be 19 with her !

DIY Coming Soon !

I am currently working on a DIY for an iPod case. I call is an iPod case but really you can alter the size to make it work for a cell phone etc. I am going to be making one for someone who needs it for their external hard drive in a little while, so really the pattern can be used for anything. Anyways, the diy pattern should be done by tomorrow at the latest (maybe even tonight). I hope you enjoy it !

It is one of my first diy's so I would appreciate feedback.

Thanks !

I LOVE this room..

I came across this photo on the blog A Beautiful mess. It was posted in her post called 10 things I love Sunday. The picture came originally from the blog I Feel Like Two Million.

I love this room because it is one of my favorite colors, and also the lights look awesome. I have always wanted a canopy over my bed, but I think this wins. The birds are so cute on her duvet. This is just an overall great room.

Cards !

So when I graduated I bought this really cool stamp at Wal-Mart. It's made by Martha Stewart. I bought it because I had to make so many thank you cards and that can end up coasting a lot.

What you do is you buy the block (in the first picture) and then you buy the rubber stamps and you
place the stamps how you like.

I recently bought some sympathy stamps because it's always hard to find a good sympathy card. I always have thank you stamps, flowers and the alphabet.

You can buy different size blocks because sometimes all of the letters don't fit on the block.

This is the finished card after I removed the stamp.

There is the stamp and the ink I used to make the card.

Love You cards. These are my favorite.

This is Chloe after she made a card out of the stamps.

These are the stamps covered in ink.

In the Sewing mood...

So I decided to do some sewing today. I have had a vision in my head for the past few weeks and I had to let it out. I ended up with two purses that I really like. I am about to start my third.

Recycling Crayons

We decided to take all of the old crayons and melt them into new ones.
This is Chloe taking all of the "skin" off the crayons. I looked it up online and it said to turn the oven on to 300 F and wait for the wax to melt. Then you just take them out and let them cool. Pretty easy. They turned out kind of funky looking because of the aluminum foil. I want to try and find some cool molds to use for next time.

These are all of the crayons broken up into to muffin tin.

We had to take all of the paper off first.

This is what they looked like after we took them out of the oven. Some of the crayons were too big and didn't melt, and I was too impatient to wait for them.

They were pretty funky looking on the bottom because of the aluminum foil.

This one is Chloe's favorite.

It was a fun little project for her birthday. Now we are going to play
Yahtzee !

A Crown for my Sister...

I made my sister this crown for Christmas.
She is in a phase where she loves anything
thats girly and pink.

All I did was take two pieces of felt and cut them in
a crown shape and then sew along the top
edge. Then to keep the two pieces together
I sewed some swirls on it. It still looked a
little boring so I added the buttons.

In this next picture you can see where I added
the elastic for the back of the head.

It was so easy and it turned out really cute!

Blue & Green

There once was a beautiful owl..

He had the most beautiful blue and green eyes...

Unfortunately he got in a horrible accident..

And his beautiful blue and green eyes were never the same..

But he was still beautiful on the inside..

And that my friends is the story of the blue and green eyed owl.

I Heart Felt

This is the headband I made for my halloween costume (I was a hippie)
I used an old black headband and just sewed the leaf on with some sequence.

So I decided to make some more headbands.
:)

I made two more leaf headbands and a cool circle one.
This time I used some elastic instead of a real headband.

And I made a flower just for fun...

Now you understand why I heart felt.

:)
