Valentines Guest Post from Punk Projects

Hi! Katie here, from Punk Projects! I love doing anything crafty- scrapbooking, crocheting, sewing, quilting, etc. I also love anything mixed media, and so I thought "Why not make some mixed media Valentines??"
I hope you guys enjoy this tutorial. :)
Supplies: Pretty Papers, (I used scrapbook paper and book pages) Paint, Paintbrush, Sharpies, Misc embellishments. (scrabble tiles, scrapbooking rub-ons,  buttons, etc)

1. Cut your paper down to the size you want. Mine are 3" x 4"
2. Taking old book pages and other fun papers, cut out hearts and glue them to your valentines.
 3. Paint an outline around your heart. I used white and pink paints, I also used a sparkle glaze over a few of the hearts. It just adds glitter, so if you don't have a sparkle medium, you could always just sprinkle some glitter onto your paint.

4.Now you just have to embellish your hearts! Have fun. I used a variety of embellishments.
Papers, Scrabble Tiles, Scrapbooking Rub-ons, Buttons, Letter Stickers and Sharpies!
These were super easy and fun, and I didn't have to go out and buy any Valentines themed papers or embellishments. Are you making your own Valentines this year?

Dear Ally: Hilarious Advice For Not So Hilarious Situations

Hello!
So my friend Ally from the break up blog just answered some relationship questions that people asked her. The questions are not funny, but her responses are pretty hilarious! I really recommend you check it out! You can ask her an anonymous question through formspring. However, if you don't have any relationship problems, I suggest making one up to see what she comes up with (that's what I did hehe). Ally did a previous post here a while ago, if you missed it you can see it here

This is Ally and her skinny boyfriend.
PS. Do NOT forget about the GIVEAWAY that is done TOMORROW. hehe.

Need Some Advice? An Interview from Ally of The Break-Up Blog

Here is an interview done by my friend Ally over at the breakup blog. She is expanding her blog a little bit and looking to get some new readers(hint hint, nudge nudge). She has recently added a formsprings box so that you can now anonymously ask her for dating advice or any other advice for that matter! If you are in the mood for something witty, her blog is the place to be!

Break-Up Blog Interview

Why did you begin the breakup blog?
Basically, I started a blog to keep my sanity after having  a rather tough break-up. It was suggested to me by the LDC designs lady herself, that I start this blog to release some pent up emotions and avoid making my friends suffer through broken-record conversations about my break-up. I got to say whatever I wanted and my friends weren't the victims of my wrath unless they voluntarily read my blog: win-win. Since the break-up phase, I've continued writing it in, sort of like a journal, blogging about whatever inspires me at the time.
Do you think it is better to be single or to be in a relationship?

I'd say that (prepare yourself for some corniness) it's better to be happy. If you're happily dating then that's good for you, but being single is okay too. What you do not want is an unhealthy version of either of those states of beings - you know what I'm talking about! Being single is fun, but what's not fun is STDs or babies or ugly boys, so use your single license with caution and a condom. Being in a relationship can be one of the best things ever, they tend to be the source of some of the best memories of your life. What relationships are also the source of is: a lot of extra pounds specifically in the arse region thanks to all of those movies, dinners out, snacks, more snacks and that weird exercise things becomes a little foreign because really, who exercises with their partner? They can also create a domesticated monster; you're young, you're not married... he can handle making his own lunch and dressing himself - I promise. Along with potentially making a lame and fatter you, a lot of times friends fall to the wayside whilst you date, for various reasons, one of the biggest being that 3 wheels are really only great on tricycles.

Do you plan on keeping your blog solely on relationship advice?
Relationship advice is where I started the blog, so I would like to continue to do so and even expand a bit. That being said, the expression "beating a dead horse" comes to mind, so I like to switch it up from time to time with whatever inspires me. Lately the theme has been the exam season and how insufferable it really is while playing around with some classic Christmas songs.

What is the next step for the breakup blog?

I love giving my opinion and especially when it comes to relationship, so after another great suggestion from Lindsay, I added a Formspring box to my blog. The Formspring boxis a place where people can anonymously ask me dating tips, break-up revenge plots... alibis for after the revenge, or whatever they feel so inclined to ask and I will post the question and answer as a blog post. I'm really excited to see what kind of questions I get and I hope that I can help out any future break-up survivors.

Thank you for doing the post Ally! Can't wait to see some of the questions you get from readers!

Visit the Break-up blog for more advice and story of Ally's Breakup.

Guest Post DIY : How To Make a Flower Hair Pin

Hi everyone! This is Justine from A New Beginning! I am a blogger, student, crafter and cat lady. But hey…who isn't on the blog world? Haha. Anyways! A huge thank you to Lindsay from LDC designs! She’s fabulous.
I wanted to teach you a cute and simple DIY for an easy Christmas gift for those special girls in your life!
What you need:

-scraps of your favorite fabric
-hot glue gun
-needle and thread
-felt
-a bobby pin or a headband!

First, cut 3 pieces of fabric that are the same length. Tie a knot at the top.
Next, braid these 3 until you get to the end.
Starting with the knot, roll them in together.
Now take the needle and thread  sew the end pieces together to make sure it stays stable.
Now cut a piece of felt that will fit in the back of your flower!
Now, hot glue the bobby pin onto the felt and you are done!
OR, you can glue it to a headband as well :)

I hope you guys make some! they are very fun and easy! if you do make one, let me know over at my blog: www.missjustinelynn.blogspot.com

Guest Post : Fishnets & Hip Checks

Hi!  I'm Sonya, from Fishnets & Hip Checks, and I'm completely honored to be guest blogging here for Lindsay.  :)

Today I'm going to be sharing with you bits about the city where I go to school: Keene, NH.  I'm currently a sophomore at Keene State College, studying English & Secondary Education, so the city has definitely become a second home to me.

It's a pretty typical college town, I think, (not that I've lived in any others) and I absolutely love it here.  Nearly everything is within walking distance, with the exceptions of Target, Borders and Michaels.  But that's where the perks of being an upperclassman come in - car on campus!

The campus is lovely in the fall.  I live in one of these buildings, but not the one pictured.  Mine is pretty much the same, though.  (I believe this is Owl's Nest 9, and I live in Owl's Nest 4, which would be a few buildings to the left.)

We've also got some infamously large squirrels that share the campus with us.  They're pretty friendly, and hilarious to watch, but sometimes I think there's a squirrel conspiracy going on.  o.O

Outside the campus is the actual town, which is absolutely lovely.  My top three favorite stores are probably Life is Sweet and Turn It Up!, which are on Main Street, and Toy City, which is a bit farther away, but well-worth the walk.

We also have an amazing theater where they have ballet, movies, and concerts.  I've seen two movies here, so far - "Adam" and "The Runaways" - and it was really great.  The place is huge and absolutely gorgeous.

The BIG THING around town each year is Pumpkin Fest, in October, which just had its 20th anniversary this year.  There are so many amazing pumpkins carved each year, and it's such a fun time.  Children dress up and people get so creative with their pumpkins.  Then, at night, the pumpkins are lit and there are fireworks.
Unfortunately, they say this was the last year.  I'm not sure how true this is, since they've said it for a few years now, but it sounded pretty serious this time.
But at least we'll have the memories.  ;)

And that's it!  There's so much more, of course, but these are the main points, I think.
I'd really like to thank Lindsay for having me!  This was my first guest post, and it's definitely going to be one I'll remember.
Feel free to find me at my blog and Twitter.

Thanks!
Sonya

A note from ldc:

This town looks so much like the town where I go to school! I am going to have to do a post to show the resemblance. Thanks so much for the post Sonya!
